A new CD with Vasko Atanasovski`s Visions Ensemble has been published in Slovenia in january. It is a live recording from the Alpentoene festival in Altdorf/ Switzerland in 2009. Featured are some nice sanxian solos of Xu Fengxia, some wild balkan jazz of reed player Vasko Atanasovski and renown soloists such as Zoltan Lantos (vio), Michel Godard (tuba) and Michele Zanchini (acc.). Xu Fengxia receives the Jazzpott! This nice steel sculpture is given to her by the city mayor of Essen/Germany. The prize has been sponsored by the "Plakathof" Ruttenscheid. After this little cermony Xu Fengxia played a duo concert with Lucas Niggli (applauding on the photo). This event took place on 18 september 2009 at the Essen Philharmonie.

For the third time Xu Fengxia played at the Taktlos festival in Zuerich, this time with the Swiss drummer Lucas Niggli. It was a kind of a release party for their new duo CD "Black Lotos" (Intakt CD 164)

An extended tour through Europe followed in september.

 

 

 

A Concert in Hongkong with Peter Scherr-bass Didier Petit-cello, Wu Na-guqin and Xu Fengxia-guzheng, sanxian and voice at the French May festival was the beginning of a tour through China.

This picture was taken at the concert in Guangzhou (Canton). Xu Fengxia held her first workshop in mainland China focussing on improvised music on Chinese instruments. On the right: Xu Fengxia with Peter Scherr and Scott Tinkler (a new trumpet star) from Australia on the Guangzhou Airport.
